The Light of Life
“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine,” so goes the popular children’s song. While undeniably catchy, the following wording would better suit: “This Great Light of mine, I’m gonna let Him shine.” In the book of Matthew, Christ compared His followers to lamps (6 v 15 – 16). Now, such lamps are lit with no ordinary flame, but with Jesus Himself. Our Saviour is described over and over again in Scripture as the Light of this World. We, His disciples, carry no poor mimic or dimmed-down version of this matchless flame. Rather, we are carriers of His Person, His Glory, His Greatness. Your light is not “it” but He – God Himself. So now, allow Him to manifest His light through your life. What a purpose, what a privilege!
