In the first chapter of 1 Peter, the apostle lists various incorruptible, enduring, unfading entities. Firstly, our inheritance, reserved in heaven for us (v 4). Then, our faith, being much more precious that gold that perishes (v 7). Next, His blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (18 – 19). Lastly, His word, which lives and abides forever (v 23). Such elements labour together, depending on each other. “But, how?” you may ask. Well, when someone hears His word, the Gospel truth, their heart is filled with saving faith. His blood then washes away all sin and they inherit eternity with Him. Hallelujah! Yes indeed, the simple act of believing in the Gospel message has supremely powerful and everlasting results. Our Jesus made a way for us to be reconciled with the Father. All we need do is believe.
