It is impossible to have true hope without Jesus. He is described in 1 Timothy 1 v 1 as our hope. “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Saviour and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,” we read. Without Him, eternity is but a chasm of despair, impossible to avoid. Without Him, death is an indescribable horror, ever lurking, always threatening. He is hope incarnate. He is hope divine. Knowing Him means knowing that our future is certain, eternity something to look forward to rather than dread. In Hebrews 2, we read: “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” The believer lives with no fear of death, such being merely a doorway into a better life. True hope is hope eternal. True hope is hope that does not waver or wane, but forever remains strong. This is the hope we have in Jesus. It is true hope indeed!
